How I work
I work with you to create a safe, non-judgmental, space for us to explore some areas in your life you are struggling with. I believe in naming the strengths in ourselves that resist, or push back against, hardship as points of transformation into a more fulfilling and joyful life. I explore coping skills that you already use in your life and provide new one’s for you to try on. My role is to ask you insightful questions, notice patterns/connections, and facilitate activities to strengthen your inner resources. I use various techniques that fit with the person and topic, some examples include: grounding visualizations, meditations, mindfulness, and arts based empowerment activities.
Who I am
I completed my Masters of Social Work (MSW) at Ryerson University and have over five years of clinical counselling experience. My previous counselling roles have been in the field of rape crisis, intimate partner violence, mental health and substance use for people living in poverty and homelessness, and alongside Indigenous communities on Turtle Island (Canada). I’ve provided counselling to trans folks navigating coming out, adjusting to hormones, and exploring topics of identity, community building, and self-image. As a queer non binary person who has personally experienced abuse, trauma, grief, and oppression, my knowledge and practice are infused with first hand lessons in surviving and thriving through these struggles.
